We chose this truck because its not nearly as common to find lifted compared to Nissan Titans, Chevy Silverado, or Ford F150.  After weeks of looking, we found the perfect truck!  The Rock Warrior model is a limited edition truck that came with paint matched front bumper, front grill, and black interior.

For the lift, we went with the 7 inch BDS lift kit for the perfect stance.  For Wheels, we thought that the 20×10 Black KMC XD Monster Wheels with -12mm offset would set it off perfectly wrapped in a set of 35×12.5×20 Toyo Mud Terrains.  If your in the market for a set of nice Mud Terrains, you can’t go wrong with Toyo Open Country M/T.  For a Mud Terrain Tire, this tire offers an amazingly smooth ride, and its extremely quiet.  Comparing these to Nitto Mud Terrains, and Procomp tires, the Toyos are far superior.

Concave Wheels

Everything in fashion goes through cycles, and that includes auto fashion!! Custom wheels are very similar to fashionable clothing. They can transform your look from boring to hot! Having a nice set of custom wheels can completely change the look of a car, and help you to stand out from the crowd. They can give you a feeling of confidence, independence, and style just like a pair of expensive shoes, or wrist watch.

Just like clothing fashion, its interesting to watch the evolution of wheel styles. Originally, all the wheels were either polished, chrome, or silver. People where looking for something different. Something that would really contrast with their car, so black wheels with a polished lip came out. Also around the same time, there was a huge infatuation with the deepest lip possible. More recently lots of wheel companies came out with wheels that had spoke inserts which could be custom painted to whatever color the customer liked.

The newest trend are rims with a concave spoke design and we are the Authority on concave wheels. Although its not for everyone, it really does give your car a more aggressive look. Most concave wheels have no lip to accomplish as much of the effect as possible, but there are a few out there that still have a lip. The key to getting more of the concave look depends on the wheel width and offset. The wider the wheel, and the lower the offset, the more concave a wheel design can get. In order to really pull off the concave wheel look, you should really plan on lowering the car with either lowering springs, or a full coilover kit. Here’s some examples of whats available right now. The offset of a wheel is the distance from the hub mounting point to the center line of the wheel. This is shown in the image to the left.

A Zero Offset is present when the hub mounting surface is even with the center line of the wheel.

A Positive Offset is when the mounting surface is moved towards the front of the wheel. This is more common on front wheel drive cars.

A Negative Offset is when the hub surface is moved towards the back of the wheel. A negative offset is usually found on wheels that have a very deep lip.

If the offset of the wheel is not correct for the car, the handling can be negatively affected. When the width of the wheel changes, the offset also changes. If the offset were to stay the same while you added width to the wheel, the additional width would be split between the inside and outside. For most cars, this won’t work correctly, and can cause problems.

Some exceptions to what will and won’t work also depend on the overall look you are trying to achieve with the vehicle. Generally, lifted trucks will run a negative offset to create more room in the wheel well for oversized tires, as lowered and bagged trucks will run a high positive offset to make sure the wheel will clear the fenders when tucking inside the well. The same goes for most cars as well, depending on the particular look you are trying to achieve.

Once it’s explained, offset is actually a very simple concept, and the knowledge of your vehicle and the available offsets for your application can make the entire process of selecting wheels much easier.
